Marine Measurement Forum 59

  • 07 Jul 2017
  • BP Upstream Learning Centre, Sunbury-on-Thames, TW16 7LN

The Hydrographic Society UK (THS UK) will be hosting the 59th Marine Measurement Forum (MMF) at the Upstream Learning Centre, located on BP's International Centre for Business & Technology (ICBT) campus in Sunbury-on-Thames, on Friday 7th July 2017.

The day will follow the customary MMF format of a series of short talks interspersed with opportunities to network and tour the BP site including the drill simulator and HD distance learning facilities.

The wide-ranging presentation programme for MMF59 is almost finalised with topics to be covered including: tidal prediction; an autonomous surface and sub-surface system for conducting low-cost shore-based full water column surveys; charting for safe fishing around the UK; a new environmentally-friendly, long-term solution to biofouling; crowdsourced bathymetry; in-situ fluorescence measurement; the use of unmanned surface vehicles (USV) for passive acoustic monitoring (PAM) of marine mammals; mobile weather stations; taking measurements in the Southern Ocean using seal-mounted CTD tags; and the use of remote sensing technologies and multiple autonomous surface vehicles (AUV) for hydrocarbon detection and monitoring and spill modelling in a real-life oil spill exercise.

The delegate fee is just £45 per person, including refreshments. VAT is not applicable.

MMFs are invariably well attended and places are strictly limited so please register as soon as possible.
