“Hydrography – How survey technology is being used to solve maritime mysteries and increase our scientific knowledge of the marine environment”.

The Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute in conjunction with the Australasian Hydrographic Society will be holding a major hydrography event to be held on Thursday 1st March 2018.

Over the last 18 months, there have been numerous Hydrographic Survey and Sea floor mapping projects undertaken in our region.  Some of these have solved a 100 year old naval mystery (HMAS AE-1) with others being used to increase the navigational safety of mariners and our scientific knowledge of our precious coastal zone and marine habitats.

This Seminar will feature presenters who are expert in these fields and will share with us their knowledge and experience gained from undertaking these significant projects.

Please see following programme for all presentation details.

The topic for this event is

“Hydrography – How survey technology is being used to solve maritime mysteries and increase our scientific knowledge of the marine environment”

Other highlights of this event are:

A separate farewell dinner for the recently retired Hydrographer of Australia – Commodore Brett Brace.  This dinner will provide our membership the opportunity to farewell Commodore Brace and pass on our appreciation for his significant efforts for his many years of exemplary service to the Royal Australian Navy Hydrographic Service and the Hydrographic Surveying Industry in general.
