"Hydrography – enabling autonomous technologies"


SEMINAR AND TRAINING WORKSHOP

 

The Australasian Hydrographic Society South West Pacific Region in conjunction with the Fiji Hydrographic Service, Fugro, Teledyne CARIS and other sponsors will be presenting a seminar and training during 17-19 June 2020 at the Moana Anglican Services and Teaching (MAST) Centre, 7-11 Desvoeux Road, Suva.

The theme "Hydrography – enabling autonomous technologies" highlights the pivotal role of hydrography in autonomous technologies. Autonomous platforms such as autonomous surface vehicles (ASV), autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) and Lidar-equipped unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), such as drones can be used to conduct hydrographic surveys.

Presentations on hydrography and related subjects will be provided and training in basic hydrography and CARIS software will be held. The general program will be:

Wednesday, 17 June 2020, 9:00-17:00:

Basic CARIS Software Training Workshop (BYO Laptop)

Thursday, 18 June 2020:

AM – Autonomous Vehicles Workshop

PM – Basic Hydrography Training

Friday, 19 June 2020:

09:00-17:00 - Full day seminar with various international, regional and local speakers.

18:00-20:00 - Ship visit and refreshments.

Society invites those who have an interest in hydrography and related maritime disciplines to attend, including:

Nautical Charting – Surveying at Sea, Coastal Zone Management, Offshore Resource Surveys and Management, Port Development and Maritime Engineering, Law of the Sea, Marine Cartography, Environmental Studies, Marine Geology and Geophysics

Registration is $FJD30.00 (or equivalent currency) at the door (invoices will be provided on request prior to the event)

Seats are limited – Lunch & Refreshments provided.

Anyone wishing to attend is asked to register by close of business, up to and including Thursday, 18 June 2020
