What is involved in the planning, design and construction of an offshore wind farm in NZ?
Giacomo Caleffi. Business Development Manager for Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP), based in Wellington will offer his insights.
● The NZ Super Fund and CCOP/CIP are working in partnership to explore
the potential for large-scale offshore wind energy in the South Taranaki
Bight. A newly established jointly held company will manage the feasibility
study and development.
● Subject to feasibility, an initial planned 1GW development would represent
over 11 per cent of New Zealand’s current electricity demand capacity.
● Giacomo started his career with 2 years hydrographic surveying and then
specialized in offshore wind farms. He has a passion for offshore wind
farms and while some of our members have worked on offshore wind
farms we are sure this topic will be of interest to all.
