The AHS is pleased to invite you to the first event of 2024.
Agenda:
17:00 – 17:30 Arrival and Beverages
17:30 – 17:50
Understanding Side Scan Sonar Technology and compliance with Survey Standards/Specifications.
Dr Pete Ramsay Director, Strategic Hydrographic Programs, Klein Marine Systems
This presentation will provide an introduction to both real-aperture and synthetic-aperture side scan sonar technology. Klein and other sonars will be discussed. Various international survey standards and specifications will be reviewed and side scan technology recommended to be compliant with the survey requirements.
17:50 – 18:10
Royal Australian Navy use of Industry for Technology Transformation Upskilling
Phil Wells Technical Manager - Survey & Inspection, MMA Offshore
Australian Defence Force 2016 White Paper established the use of Australian Industry to support military programs including the RAN transformation from traditional mine hunter vessels to Remote and Autonomous Systems. Leveraging off the HIPP program, RAN is using Australian hydrographic industry to rapidly upskill Military Survey and Mine Warfare personnel.
18:10 – 18:30
AI: The force multiplier for side scan survey reporting.
Dr Pete Ramsay Director, Strategic Hydrographic Programs, Klein Marine Systems
Surveyors are overwhelmed with data especially on operations where multiple crewed or uncrewed vessels are simultaneously acquiring data. Offshore renewable energy, oil/gas and military surveys have stringent reporting criteria with respect to seafloor target detection and identification.
Klein’s SpectralAi software is a cutting-edge software suite for user visual immersion, data management, annotation, mapping and CNN automatic target recognition for side scan sonar data.
18:30 – 20:00 Networking drinks and nibbles
